A Big Day for the McGee Family and FBC

Today was a big day for the McGee family and for our church, First Baptist. As many of you know, Josh and I have been in youth and music ministry for the past 10 ½ years together as a couple, but years longer on our own. As a teenager, I knew the Lord wanted me to marry a man who desired to be in ministry and as a teenager (years before we met), my husband surrendered to the Lord’s calling on his life to be in ministry/preach. Both of us knew that our lives are “but a vapor” and we knew we wanted to use every breath that the Lord gave us to serve Him. A couple of years ago, both of our hearts began to “expand”. Josh began to see the Lord leading him to be a Senior Pastor. I couldn’t have agreed more. We began to pray about this and were very open to where the Lord would lead us and how He would make all of the details fall into place. As many of you know, Josh has been filling in for 3 separate roles of our church for the past several months: Interim Pastor, Youth Pastor and Music Pastor. Josh was open to the Lord moving us on or keeping us here. These past months have been neat to watch. Josh has really loved the Interim Pastor role. He’s especially loved the hours of studying and preaching. I’ve gotten a front-row seat in this matter. I’ve watched him for years and I’ve seen his love and his passion for the Lord and His church grow. In the meantime, our church had been seeking the Lord regarding a Senior Pastor. A pulpit committee spent weeks on end praying on their knees and going through potential candidates. After some time, they presented Josh’s name as a candidate. This was his desire of course, and this is what we felt the Lord wanted, but it’s still very humbling. To be clear, we all want the same thing – what the Lord wants; nothing more and nothing less. All of this to say, Josh was voted in tonight to be the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church. Neither of us take this lightly. We are humbled and excited to see the Lord continue to work in our church and we are honored that He would use us to accomplish this purpose. Thank you for all of the love, prayers and support!

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

~ I Corinthians 15:58.

    1. We just hired a new youth pastor as well as a new music director. They and their wives have been super helpful!! It gives him a little more ability to focus on the pastoral side of things. Love ya!
