I’m currently staying at the “Sea of Galilee” Hotel in Magdala, Israel. The very town where Mary Magdalene lived. We have seen Caesarea, evil King Herod’s palace, the theater where gladiators fought, Capernaum, Mount Carmel, Tel Dan, Nazareth, the Mount of Precipice, the Road to Damascus, “The Gates of Hell”, pagan and idol worshipping grounds, Herod Agrippas’s palace – the man who said, “Almost thou persuaded me..”, etc. I have seen from the tops of Mount Arbel and Ben-Tal – gazing down to Syria and also seeing Muslims, Druze, Jews – all people groups who acknowledge Jesus, but not as our Creator, Savior and King. I have talked to unsaved tour guides who know every bit about the history of Jesus – who believe in Him as a great, historical man ranking above a prophet but not as their Savior…who believe that God loves people too much to judge them.
All of this has been breaking my heart. Our Savior walked right where they lived to save people just like them and yet they have not translated head knowledge into heart belief. I have had a song in my head every single day. It’s the choir song we sang last Sunday morning. Its words have taken on new meaning this week. I now can better picture these historical and life-changing Biblical events in my head. I have seen the Valley of Armageddon – the very place where God will administer His judgment to an unbelieving world. I sing these words this week thinking of these well-meaning people – people who will one day bow their knee to King Jesus.
One little baby, given from glory
Wrapped in humanity
One man will call to the heart of the common
For there God’s kingdom shall be
One rock the builders rejected
Now ranks as the cornerstone
Since time began, not a footprint of man
Ever left a mark like one
One lonely figure awakes from His slumber
To quiet a daily storm
One at the well waits with life-giving water
For a thirsty woman would come
One heart full of compassion
Whose touch caused the lame to run
The force as a thousand armies come marching
Shall never contest the one
Jesus
Jesus
Every knee shall bend in reverence
His name ring out from every tongue
Every eye shall witness His wonder
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus the one
One who will govern the plan of salvation
Will shoulder His cross up a hill
One voice alone that could order the angels
Is silent by His own will
One king suffered and gave His life
The power of death brought down
One life will challenge the limits of nature
And rise with a victor’s crown
Jesus
Jesus
Every knee shall bend in reverence
His name ring out from every tongue
Every eye shall witness His wonder
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus the one
This land has moved me. Praise the Lord for creating us, for dying for us, for saving us, for forgiving us, and for preparing a place for us.
Jen, this is a beautiful testimony for our blessed Savior! One day the scales will be loosened from their eyes and the world will see clearly! Until then we just keep sharing Jesus with a dying world! ❤️
