Imagine spending days and days planning a birthday party for someone you say you love. You plan every last detail and spend every waking hour making EVERYTHING as perfect as possible. You’re confident this will be one amazing birthday party. The day arrives, and you run around, making sure the details are covered. The party is just amazing. As you pillow your head that night, a terrible thought comes to your mind. You had the perfect party, but never once did you talk directly to the one you were honoring with a party! You were so focused on the party prepping, hosting, and making everything perfect, that you never even spent quality time with your loved one or told them “Happy Birthday”. In fact, you never even thought much about them all day. What a waste of all of that time and energy!
Isn’t that exactly what we do around the Christmas season? Shopping, traditions, baking, Hallmark movies, pictures, Santa Claus – all amazing, fun, and exciting things we rightfully look forward to each year! But have we missed the very One who is deserving of praise? JESUS is the Reason for the Season! Let’s give Him the time, attention, and glory that He so rightfully deserves!
