Living with Eternity in Mind

This was a glass from our wedding that was personalized with name/wedding date. It almost made it to year 18. 😅 It was a casualty of my clumsiness the other day as I was packing up the house.

I was frustrated with myself, but all I could do was cringe for a second and then laugh and say, “Welp. I can’t take it with me when I die anyways, right?” 🤷🏼‍♀️ I Timothy 6:7 reminds us of a great truth: “For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.”

I want to be careful that I don’t spend my short life too focused on things that, at the end of the day, truly don’t matter. Things break, money comes and goes, houses and cars fall apart, new things become old, shiny things lose their luster…and yet those very unsatisfying things take up an exorbitant amount of our brain space and time.

Our life’s mission, as believers, is to glorify Jesus & to lovingly share Him with others. To keep this focus makes “the things of this earth grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.”

”Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭19‬-‭21‬)
